According to legend, La Devinière is the
birthplace of Rabelais. This modest 15th century farmhouse was used
by the author as the setting for Gargantua's epic battles with his neighbour
Picrochole. The museum also features a remarkable troglodyte dwelling.
An exceptional collection of engravings, drawings and prints by artists
who have been inspired by the work of Rabelais (Matisse, Derain, Brayer,
Dubout...) and the myth of Gargantua. There are some rare editions of
Rabelais and furniture from 16th-18th centuries.
